The Place

Kensington Lakes is an emerging master planned suburb of Bundaberg themed toward the recreational flying community. When completed It will also incorporate an air based industry and business precinct. It is located on 141 hectares of land abutting the Bundaberg regional airport, situated approximately 4 kilometres southwest of the Post Office. It is about 15 kilometres from the Coral Coast seaside towns including Bargara, Burnett Heads, Elliott Heads, and the Mon Repos turtle rookery.
Kensington Lakes adjoins:
-
the airport to the west,
-
commercial and business uses to the north,
-
future residential development to the east' and
-
rural land to the south.
The project incorporates a business airpark in the northern sector - with business lots having taxiway access to the Bundaberg airport, and a residential airpark in the southern sector.
It is proposed to develop about 600 residential lots with approximately 100 of these having direct air access. A local / community service centre is proposed adjacent to the residential airpark, with a wide range of community, retail and entertainment facilities. The project incorporates a park and trail network, quality civic gardens, and ornamental lakes to provide a community recreation focus. From the outset, the latest technologies will be used to ensure environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and contemporary communication networks.
