The Residential Airpark
The residential airpark will accommodate more than 600 residential lots, approximately 200 of which will have direct air access for private aircraft from home to runway. The remainder will be developed as high quality conventional housing including detached dwellings, townhouses and villas, and private - high quality apartments. Separating the business and residential airpark will be a 15 hectare sports and recreation park developed with a regional athletics facility, organised field sports such as rugby union, tennis courts, and informal recreational areas including BBQ and picnic areas.
The residential airpark will be a master planned community enjoying all the amenity of city living. In addition to the high level facilities available due to its regional city location it will also offer local shopping, restaurants, health and community services, parks and trails; ornamental lakes; and a high level of civic and building design through the use of covenants and design controls.
The entire project will be heavily landscaped to provide cool, green, shady places and streets. One of the many innovative features of the Kensington Lakes community will be dual reticulation of non — treated irrigation water (direct from the regions rainwater dams and irrigation canals) for use in gardens and for non potable use in the home (toilet flushing). This will cut the water bill in half and remove the financial burden of keeping gardens beautiful all year round.
